Back in October, like many people, when I was not successful in my entry to the 2010 London Marathon I as content in the thought that I would try again next year.

Then, at a friend’s party in late November, I was asked if a place came up would I think about running for a charity which is supporting our friends through their young daughters’ cancer treatment.  Being the soft touch and emotional person I am when it comes to children I said of course! Safe in the knowledge that it was a very remote chance.

Well........

Just over two weeks ago, I received a phone call from Clic Sargent.......

“Hi, is that Alan? Ian said you would run for us in the London Marathon in April and we have a place for you..”

What could I say? Without hesitation I agreed.  Having seen the strength and courage of young Zoe, running 26 miles is nothing in comparison.

So, here I am with about 12 weeks to go, wearing lycra from head to toe and running in all kinds of weather imaginable and now I need your help.

Clic Sargent is the UK's leading children's cancer charity, and is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support.

My goal is to raise at least £ 1,800 and help Clic Sargent continue their invaluable work for children and families having to deal with Cancer at such a young age.

As extra incentive for you to sponsor me, for all donations over £100 I will have your name/ company name printed on my running vest.  Also, if I do reach my target of £1,800 I will run the whole 26.2 miles dressed as a nurse!
