Alex and Sarah are entering Sarah's mini (Migi) into the 'Italian Job'.


THE EVENT:

This event began back in 1990, with Minis from all over the UK travelling to Italy in order to to  raise money and awareness for  Children's charities.

For this year's job, the plan is to drive across Western Europe to the start point at the Imola F1 racetrack in Northern Italy. Here we will meet 'the competition', consisting of 'any vehical which was featured in either the 1969 or 2003 versions of the the Italian Job films'. Following the rally route, we will drive off the beaten track, over medieval bridges, through tiny villages and explore cities such as Bologna, Turin and Venice. Finally the rally will take us on to the Adria raceway circuit, and perhaps onto the Grand Prix circuit of Monza. We may even get to  go for a lap or two on the famous Lingotto Roof top test track which appeared in the 1969 film.

Our challenge /aim is to win the much coveted Sponsorship Award and to place our Team within the top 10 on a 4 day navigational rally.

Whatever route we take (we don't get the full itinerary until April), it should be great fun and,  most importantly, we will be able to create awareness and obtain funding for  the Italian job's chosen charity: KIDSOUT.


The Italian Job has been raising money for KidsOut since it began in 1990, and so far 'jobbers' have raised over £2 million!!... to be able to join the rally, we must have (or at least tried to) raised  around £1,500.


THE CHARITY 

KidsOut are the only charity in the UK dedicated to bringing fun and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children!

The Charity exists to give disadvantaged and disabled children and young people fun, positive activities and experiences that contribute to their development, well-being and outlook for a happier future.

They aim to transform the lives of these children by providing life changing experiences and ,through the innovative work that they do, they aim to provide these kids both with fun and happiness now and a brighter, more positive future.

From great days out  to multi-media outreach activities for isolated young people, everything they do delivers life-enhancing experiences that enable children and young people to achieve, have fun, grow in confidence and have much better life chances.
