Story
On the 11th June 2016, three of Ashley Wilde directors, Charles, Simon, and Robert, in conjunction with Robbie Freeman (RF Personal Training) will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
MND is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. MND leaves people unable to walk, talk, or feed themselves. It is fatal with no known cure and kills half of those diagnosed within 14 months.
Tragically both Charles and Simon lost their mothers recently to this dreadful disease. Jan Barnett (who died in December 2015) and Lynne Crozier (who died in May 2013) battled bravely to the end despite the knowledge that there was no known cure. They were both incredibly brave throughout, facing many invasive procedures, having total paralysis, and the inability to communicate, resulting in ‘locked in’ syndrome. They never complained and were taken from us far too soon and in the cruellest of ways. Needless to say there are very personal reasons for Charles and Simon embarking on this challenge and they are very grateful for the support of both Robert and Robbie as they endeavour to take on the 3 Peaks Challenge, raising awareness and as much money as possible to go towards the research and general funding associated with the MNDA.
This truly is one of the most hideous and terrifying diseases known to man, and it desperately needs your financial support.
Thank you!
