Team: Remembering Lee Abbott
We are 6 crazy chicks looking for sponsorship as we are going to get ourselves muddy for money! That's right folks we are taking part in this year’s Maldon Mud Race.
This is the reason why...
Sadly one of the most devastating events in life happened to one of our dear 'Mummy Group' friends last year. Abbey lost her darling husband Lee.
On 21st May 2013, Lee (aged only 35) was diagnosed with bowel cancer that had already spread to the liver. Only three months later he sadly died, leaving behind Abbey and their two beautiful young sons: Zachary (3) and Sebastian (1).
Their family got the 'Farleigh Hospice experience' and she is now dedicated to raising as much money as possible to help future families. You may not realise, but palliative care facilities such as hospices rely heavily on donation to continue to deliver their much needed services, providing care for those as young as 18.
These precious places enable specialist health care professionals to be alongside those affected by life limiting illnesses offering in-patient and community care, symptom management and end of life care.
As Lee had a great love of cycling, in his memory we have decided to form his own girlie cycling team (minus the bikes but wearing full cycling gear) for a special 'Tour de Lee' raising awareness of cancer in the young and cash for Farleigh Hospice.
We will support and be alongside Abbey through her brave journey and fundraising.
Dig deep in those pockets people and show your support for our team 'The Yummy Muddies' running the Tour de Lee!!!
Many thanks,
Abbey, Carol, Kaymarie, Nichola, Nicola and Val xxxxxx
