"There are many children, youths and adults who live with Down's syndrome and as such, many have severe learning difficulties. Sadly, the condition of Down's syndrome often carries with it, a serious decline in health involving heart disease, diabetes and leukaemia as well as increased memory loss and learning disability as they reach adulthood.
Premature dementia and Alzheimer's can often set in at the heartbreakingly early age of mid to late 30's.
Our work here at the DSRF, is to research ways to slow down and potentially delay the onset of these conditions. But to do that, we need to raise funds to enable us to commission these vital studies and find ways to help improve the quality of life for the many children and adults who have Down's syndrome-and those who will be born in the future"
Our charity has been getting medical research underway in the UK for Down Syndrome (T21) for 20 yrs. We have gained tremendious scientific data & knowledge during that time. We share all findings with parents & medical professionals so they are able to implement & integrate changes quickly into their child’s life. This research helps the parents, professionals & public to have a better understanding of T21 & the impact that nutrition & lifestyle can have on the wellbeing & quality of life through preventative measure
