Story

In the name of Allah (God), The most gracious, The most merciful.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah (God) be with you

On the 5th February 2021, our lives changed as our beloved Dad had succumbed to COVID-19. He had been fighting for his life for 3 weeks, but tragically he was taken away too soon from us, leaving behind his three children and a loving wife.

Our Dad, Abdul Alim Dalvi was an extremely kindhearted and affectionate man. Always polite and very respectful to anyone he met. He was loved by everyone, and was an amazing husband , father, brother, uncle, colleague and friend. He touched so many peoples lives, and devoted all his time to helping others and sharing his advice and wisdom. He cared deeply about the well being of others, including working for the NHS for over 25 years as a support worker for mental health. His death leaves an unrepairable dent in our hearts. He truly was one of a kind. We are blessed and feel proud as a family to have known such a genuine and special man, a true inspiration. His memories we will always cherish and he will be missed dearly.

Sadaqah Jariyah is the gift that keeps on giving. “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim) When you give to a Sadaqah Jariyah project you reap endless rewards. It is one of the most beautiful forms of charity since it provides benefit – for both the giver and receiver – for years to come.

In memory of Abdul Alim Dalvi, we have decided to build at least 5 deep water wells in his name which will provide clean water for a community for years to come, helping to protect and transform their village. We have also chosen to donate any remaining funds to other projects that Human Appeal are doing. This will go towards the Gaza Water Desalination Plant Fund, providing an estimate of 50,000 people access to clean water. More information is provided on the Human Appeal website. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said, “The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad). This will count as an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah). Your charity will help to ensure that the local community doesn’t resort to drinking unclean water, while reaping the benefits of an ongoing charity for many years to come. Sadaqah / charity does not decrease wealth, rather it adds blessings to our wealth, health and lifestyle.

Please help us to honour our beloved father by raising enough funds to help those in need. “Whoever removes a grief from a believer from amongst the sorrows of this life, Allah will remove a grief from him amongst the sorrows of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever brings ease to one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this life and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother.” (Sahih Muslim).

Jazakallah khair / Thank you for your support.
