Lupus is an incurable immune system illness, probably genetic in origin and mainly suffered by females. It can affect any part of the body which means doctors often find it hard to diagnose. In lupus the immune system produces far too many antibodies which, circulating through the bloodstream, cause reactions leading to inflammatory processes anywhere in the body. Lupus affects every person really differently. Sadly, some cases are very severe, and in other, it can be controlled really well. Lupus symptoms are very varied and can be very unpredictable. 

I (Abi) got diagnosed with Lupus in December 2010, having experienced multiple different symptoms. This came as a shock (having never even heard of Lupus) and at times has taken some adjusting too. I manage Lupus through immune-suppressing medication, regular monitoring and lots of support from family and friends. Lupus has become part of my day to day and I am EXTREMELY thankful, that at the moment, my Lupus is well controlled and managed. 

So, that being said - WE ARE RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON!!!

On 2nd October 2022 we (Abi, Katie and Ben) will take to the streets of London. We are hoping to raise both awareness about the condition, and raise some money to support Lupus UK in the fantastic work they do. I (Abi) decided I needed a new challenge and have managed to recruit my supportive (and better at running) friends along with me - I need ALL the help I can get. 

All money being raise will go directly to Lupus UK which is a charity committed to supporting people with Lupus and their families, funding research into the disease, and educating people about what Lupus is. 

Any donation would be so gratefully received  - however big or small all counts and will make changes to peoples lives!
