In July 2016, members of Accenture UK's Health and Public Service group are joining forces to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge in support of Alzheimer's Society.
We will attempt to climb the highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis, 1345m), England (Scafell Pike, 978m) and Wales (Snowdon, 1085m) in 24 hours.
We expect to spend approximately 13 hours hillwalking and 11 hours in a minibus trying to sleep while our dedicated drivers cover the 462 miles between locations.
Our team members are: Adrian Thomas, Ali Gosling, Allan Fairley, Catherine Inness, Daniel Patterson, David Barrett, Emma Birks, Emma Redgrove, Fiona Hayden Cadd, Morna Spence, Naomi Joseph, Simon Mitchell, Victoria Bracken.
Dementia can happen to anyone and there's currently no cure. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and the number is set to rise to 1 million by 2021.
Alzheimer's Society are the UK's leading dementia support and research charity. They provide information and practical and emotional support to help people live well with dementia, and they invest in world-class research with the ultimate goal of defeating it. They also campaign to improve public understanding of dementia and the devastating impact it can have, and make sure it's taken seriously and acted on by our governments.
All donations however big or small will help us to reach our fundraising target and, more importantly, will make a difference to people's lives.
- £5 could pay for one person to attend a half hour session at a monthly Dementia Café, providing information and support for people with dementia and their carers.
- £20 could pay for 100 copies of Understanding and respecting the person with dementia, one of the Society's most requested factsheets.
- £50 could fund one of our National Dementia Helpline Advisors for an hour, as they offer practical advice and emotional support to people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends.
- £120 could pay to run Talking Point for one day, the Society's 24/7 online community for all people affected by dementia.
