*** 25 Apr 2010 UPDATE *****
After 20 weeks of training, Anna and I set off for London at 6:30am this morning.
After being drenched while waiting to get started and seeing the wheel chair racers start on the big screen, the rest of us were up next.
I had heard on numerous occasions to not get carried away with the crowd and end up changing my running pace ..... but it was tough, there were over 500,000 spectators and they were amazing. From mile 1 to 26, they were bonkers and just make you want to put everything in from the start.
The first 15 miles went well , but I think I did end up going a bit too fast and started to suffer from then on.
I completed my run in 3:39 and Anna completed hers in 4:26 (after a visit to the St Johns Ambulance because of blisters).
So I would just like to say thank you to everyone who sponsored me and all your words of encouragement over the past few weeks and especially this morning. If anyone who was involved in the setup of the marathon is reading this, congratulations on putting on a master class of and event.
And most importantly, to Anna .... I'm very proud of you, especially considering how your training was disrupted. Well done and I love you.
Thanks again everyone!
Adam

We are nearly at the end of week 17 of our training, the Marathon is on the 25th April and we've had our first injury!
Considering the miles being done at the moment, we've both been lucky with injuries .... until now. Anna has torn a ligament in her knee and it couldn't be at a worst time. Hopefully she'll still be able to do the Marathon, but she'll definately miss the next couple of weeks of training. http://www.justgiving.com/Anna-Plumridge-VLM2010
In terms of my own training, I'm writing this having just completed a training run of 20.45 miles. This is the longest run of the training plan, although god knows where the additional 6 miles is going to come from as the last 2/3 mile of this run were shockingly hard. I've always considered myself fairly fit, but every single fibre in every single muscle was hurting at around mile 18/19.
So this is another reason for me to be grateful for your sponsorship as it will hopefully give me that little extra to see things through to the end.
This will be the last update before the Marathon, so I would like to thank everyone for their support. And lastly, if anyone has not had a chance to donate but wants to, we've raised an amazing amount so far and hopefully we can raise that little bit more.

Thanks and bye for now,

London Marathon is next month ....... i'll be glad when it's over.
Anna and myself ran the Woking Half Marathon 2 weeks ago and it went better than expected. The weather was freezing cold, wet and muddy but thankfully as soon as we started the sky cleared and we both went on to run personal bests .... Anna finishing the 13.1 miles in 1 hour 53 minutes, while I completed it in 1 hour 32.
Training dictates that we have a 16 mile run on saturday .... looking forward to that one!
Thanks again for all your support and hopefully you can all help us reach the £400 target which we're so close too.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi all,
Thank you to everyone for all your support so far!
Thought it was maybe time for a quick update.
All in all it's going reasonably well, the biggest challenge is having to look at a wall for 40/50 minutes when running on the treadmill because the weather has been so rubbish outside.
Next week we will be halfway through the training plan and the extra miles are starting to rack up now. To give you an idea of where we are in terms of the training plan it's week 9 of 20 and looks something like this:
Mon=REST
Tue=50 min run
Wed=Football training
Thursday=40 min run
Friday=50 min run
Saturday=10 mile run
Sunday=Football match
There's not too much change in the Mon-Sat training from here, but we pretty much add 2 miles to each saturday run every week from now on.
We've signed up for the Wokingham half marathon in a couple of weeks time, so should be a good test to see how things are going.
Thanks again for all your support so far and please also take a look at Anna's sponsorship page.

I don't normally ask for sponsorship as I tend to throw myself down mountains free of charge, but Anna and myself have been accepted into the London Marathon 2010 so it seemed like a chance to do some good.
I'll be running to raise sponsorship for Help for Heroes. Hopefully we can raise some money to help support the guys and girls coming back home with injuries that I'm sure I could never fully appreciate. Please take a look at their site if you have a chance.
There's no plans to do this more than once, so please dig deep for what will be 4 months of hell .... strict discipline and running, 2 things that I really don't do well. The aim is to complete the 26.2 miles in around 3 hours 30 minutes, and if I've got all you guys sponsoring me then this will hopefully make it that bit more achievable.
Thanks,
Adam
