Empowerment, dignity and honour

The Gaza Million appeal is a unique project that provides financial assistance to the people in Gaza. Financial assistance empowers households with the choice in how to meet their essential needs, including food, medicines, clothes, rent and bills. It maintains their dignity and honour, which is inscribed into their DNA.The money is spent with local traders and businesses and helped stimulate the local economy and ensure the impact of the aid benefitted the local community as well as individual households.

Prophetic way of giving Zakat

Traditionally, the Prophet (ﷺ) and His followers would give their Zakat directly to those in need. The Gaza Million, a project of the Gaza Zakat Fund, fulfils the sunnah by providing cash directly from the donor to the person who needs it. The Islamic Council of Europe have formally verified this program to be compliant with Islamic rulings and one that facilitates the best type of zakat. 

Over 1 million living in poverty

The need in Gaza is immense. After decades of conflict and blockade, the people of Gaza are in deep crisis. 1.1 million people in Gaza live in poverty and 85% of families depend on aid to survive.
