Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be doing the three peaks challenge with a couple of good friends a week Friday (22nd May) to raise money for MPD Voice and Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
MPD Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blodd cancers called myeloproliferative disorders (MPDs), with accurate information and emotional support. They are funding research towards better treatments and one day a cure but most importantly they offer hope to those affected by MPDs.
Our bodies normally prduce billions of blood cells every day. This process occurs inside our bones in the bone marrow. The bone marrow contains stem cells which grow and mature into all the blood cells that our bodies need: red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Each of these types of cells has a specific job to do inside our bodies.
When a person has a myeloproliferative disorder, something goes wrong with blodd cell production. The bone marrow begins to produce either too many blood cells, or sometimes too few.
MPD Voice's mission is to provide clear and accurate information and emootional support to everyone who suffers from a MPD. They've also recently begun funding research towards better treatments - and hope one day a cure.
