At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page,

PLEASE READ MY 'POST RIDE' UPDATE.......

Well we completed the ride on Sunday 1st June, all 8 of us set off from Cardiff by car and arrived in Swansea (just by the Uni) in the cold and wet summers day! we got geared up; on our bikes and set off on our way to Cardiff, as we cycled through Swansea we all tried to think what it would have been like some 70 years ago when Nan cycled it, a lot less traffic I bet and less traffic lights.

It wasn't long before we were on the open road clocking up the miles, then we caught up the support cars (Thanks to Ree, Clare and Mike) where we all had a well deserved drink (not sure Nan had that luxury tho). We kept going until we got to the big climbs Crack Hill and the Cowbridge By-Pass, both negotiated without any hick-ups (apart from Lee loosing his chain and cycling backwards for half a mile!), then it was time for a cup of tea at Norm's Cafe.

We were on the home straight, this part was all a bit of a blur, especially doing 40MPH down the tumble, glad we all made it safely down that tho, then we all grouped up for the finish and what a welcome site that was, a great gathering of family to welcome us home where we all enjoyed sharing our stories about the trip whichh I'm sure we'll all remember for a very long time.

To everybody who took part and has provided their support - Thanks for all your help it is very much appreciated.

Just remember it's not too late to donate some of your hard earned cash and I'll update the totals once all the funds are in.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please feel free to come and join in its not an organised event as such, just be a group of people turning up in Swansea with their bikes to ride back to Cardiff in memory of my Nan. Why Swansea to Cardiff? Well thats easy my nan cylced that route over 60 years ago and there was not any padded lycra or bikes with 20 gears back then! so we are going to follow a similar route that Nan would have took. It's only about 40 miles so not that far, it's not a race so we be taking in the sites and stopping when required and we will have a few friends in cars keeping an eye on us. So come and join in it will be fun fun fun!
