Welcome and thank you for coming and looking at my Just Giving page. In many ways this is really Ross’s page and his story as told through me.
Ross was a close friend and colleague. I knew Ross since 2005 when we both trained together to become Clinical Psychologists. He was a dear friend whom I owe a lot to both personally and professionally. My life as a person and a Psychologist was enriched by knowing him. Ross was a gifted Psychologist who made a real difference to the lives of the countless people he saw and treated. He was also a devoted husband to his wife Gemma and doting father to their son Sam.
Tragically a brain tumour robbed Ross of the life and memories he deserved earlier this year at the age of 36. Sadly this is no anomaly, as brain tumours kill more men under the age of 45 than any other cancer. Surprisingly though only 1% of funding of cancer in the UK goes towards brain tumours. The Brain Research Trust is a charity which raises money for the research and treatment of neurodegenerative conditions including brain tumours.
In return for your generous donations, I will be suffering (lots) in running (attempting) the London Marathon. To put this into perspective the longest race I have been in was 800 metres in 1994, and the most recent one was a 200 metre race in 1997. In short, there is nothing in my own life history that suggests I am either built or have the temperament for long-distance running. So this will be a huge challenge, and one that I only have four months to prepare for; what could go wrong!
Donating something, anything will make a difference to an amazing cause, and as an added incentive it will make you feel good about yourself.
Thanks for reading.
