Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race · 4 April 2015

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

The Reason.  I've wanted to raise money for Sue Ryder since they took such excellent care of my mother, Angela, during her last weeks.  For those not familiar with the Sue Ryder Foundation, they are a charity who run hospices and provide palliative care; their staff have a poise and strength that allows you deal with a situation that you hope to never meet, and for helping mum to die with dignity, and in peace I am eternally grateful.  To help provide that care for others is worthy of huge effort.

The Challenge.  The Devizes to Wesminster is the world's longest non-stop canoe marathon, so a fair challenge and so tough in fact that 5 time gold medal winning rower, Sir Steve Redgrave tried to complete it........and failed.

The Team.  Johnny Harrison, never one to shy away from a poorly planned challenge has agreed to join me and we're rapidly learning about race kayaking.  We'll also be ably supported by friends and family which in an event like this is crucial.

The complusary blurb.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
