Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have rashly entered an extreme 10 mile run, which seems to cover more verticle height than horizontal. Having run marathons 15 years ago, I expect it to feel as long.... the following is what the marketing says...... I am not sure it attracts sane entrants......
It is billed as the toughest ten-mile cross-country race in the country, and with good reason.
The hilly route on woodland tracks tests even the hardiest of runners – with many commenting that the descents are no easier than the climbs – while the lack of mile markers and zig-zag course added another dimension of toughness as competitors passed close by in the other direction. Some of the runners were rewarded with a glimpse of a white deer crossing the course though. http://www.theblackdeathrun.com/
All those hills, coupled with stunning scenery, add up to a perfect cross-country adventure but the fun didn’t begin and end with the race. A samba band created a party mood at the start and live music, a bouncy castle, cream teas and beer helped to revive tired but satisfied runners at the finish.
As always I have not done as much training as I would have liked and being stuck in a car for too long for work does not help..
So PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY FOR A GOOD CAUSE BELOW...... A Big thank you for your support
Traditionally, Cordwainers were shoe makers based in London who used as their primary resource the soft goatskin, known as 'cordwain', imported from the Spanish town of Cordoba from the 13th Century onwards. Today the Cordwainers Company (www.cordwainers.org) is a charitable organisation made up of an eclectic bunch of people that oversee disbursements of funds and raise money for various charities.
The Cordwainers have been associated with Dorton House and its umbrella the Royal London School for the Blind for over half a century. The Royal London Society for the Blind (RLSB) exists to provide the highest quality education, training, support and employment services for blind and partially sighted people.
