While coronavirus spreads, young adults with cancer still need us - and we need your help to support them. Our large fundraising events have been cancelled and we need to raise £50,000 to keep our services going. Donate today!

Story

Our colleague Louisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2020 and is about to commence the toughest parts of her treatment. Having been through a couple of months of chemo she is really feeling it and is missing being able to exercise. To show her our support and let her know we are thinking of her, the team below have individually created their own exercise challenges. They have each set a goal to complete a certain distance over the month of February. We have then combined everyone's goals and set out our group target - currently over 3650km!

It doesn't matter if participants want to walk, run, crawl or canoe, the aim is for everyone to achieve their goal and raise money for Louisa's chosen charity, Shine Cancer Support, who offer help to people with cancer in their 20's, 30's and 40's.

People diagnosed with cancer are at risk of infection due to their disease and treatment. This also means they're much more vulnerable to coronavirus and most of our community is now self-isolating. Shine is adapting services, moving away from face-to-face meet ups and developing more digital services. They're a tiny charity and all of their big fundraising events have been cancelled. At the same time, the demand for services is increasing with more people staying at home and feeling more lonely and isolated than ever. Shine need to keep services running. Please help me to make sure that they can support their community at the time when it's needed most.

Shine supports adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have experienced a cancer diagnosis. Too old for children and teenage services but too young for traditional cancer support, we support the people who fall into a devastating cancer support gap.
