Hi everyone. Right it’s the first time I’ve asked you all to dig deep into your pockets for years and years, so here goes!
Cancer affects one in three of us, yes that’s right, one in THREE. It’s a shocking statistic and disease that seems to have no imminent cure. This needs to change. I know every single one of you has either been affected personally, or knows of a family or friend who has been affected by cancer. We all have dreadful stories about the ‘Big C’. For me, my world came to a stand still when my baby sister, at the age of 25, told me out of nowhere, that she had suddenly been diagnosed with breast cancer. Four years after enduring a double Mastectomy, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, she is still enduring regular injections for her ongoing treatment. I just thank God I still have a sister to love and fight with! Others are even more less fortunate than her…..
This year I’m running the Maidstone Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October. My aim is to raise as much money as I possibly can to help fund the fantastic Cancer Research Charity. As a thank you for your donations and to prove that I will be ‘doing my all’ as much as you lot, I have decided to really go for it and have set myself a mad and crazy target. This year I will be pushing my son Coby around the entire course! Furthermore I have set myself a target to complete the course in UNDER 2 hours! Is this possible I hear you say? Well I’m honestly not sure, especially as he’s grown so much over the last 20 months, but you can be rest assured that I will give it my all, after all, it’s for Charity right??!!
This torrid disease affects every single one of us in one form or another and it needs to STOP. The only way we have a chance of doing this, is to find a cure once and for all. Please donate what you feel you can, and lets all do our part in helping this wonderful Charity to help us all.
