*** Closure Update ***
Well the Afest justgiving site is about to close soon. We did an excellent job and almost reached our overall target. A lot of people are asking if there will be an Afest 2011. We are giving this serious consideration at the moment as if we go ahead with another event then if will have to be bigger and better of course!!
Keep an eye out on FaceBook for any further anouncements about Afest 2011.
**** A Massive Thank You !! ****
A massive thank you to all who have contributed to making Afest 2010 a big success. Thank you to all who attended the event and/or donated to the cause. We will post more info on the site when we get a chance and there will be a DVD coming out shortly with the video footage and stills taken on the day.
A preliminary count of the profit made on the day is around £1300+ and with monies still promised and donations online we are around the £2500 mark !! We hope to get coverage in the local press and thank some of the sponsors. This is a fantastic achievement. We hope it wont stop here so please spread the word and ask your friends and family and those who couldnt make it to donate. We hope to raise some more cash from the DVD's too...
And I suppose the big question is .... do we do it again ? Let us have your thoughts !
Thank you again ....

BACKGROUND:
In November 2008 our friends "John & Mary" became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl (John & Mary are not their real names to protect their privacy). Just a few weeks later we were all devastated to hear the tragic news that John had been diagnosed with secondary liver cancer at the age of 35 and the prognosis was to say the least not good at all.
Through 2009 John has taken the fight to the cancer with the loving support of his family and friends. At the same time he also had to come to terms with the possibility of having to leave Mary alone to bring up their newly born baby daughter.
Fortunately John has been lucky enough to have access to some of the best cancer specialist, surgeons and medical care in the country. After some ground breaking surgery at the end of last year John has beaten all the odds and is still with us today. Whilst no one can predict what the future holds the outlook is currently looking very positive.
To celebrate this fact and to raise money for Cancer Research UK we have decided to put on a small festival for a group of friends and family over the August bank holiday weekend 2010. The festival has been nicknamed "A Fest" and we hope to pull together a small festival atmosphere at an secret outdoor location with a few local bands and artists.
So please sponsor us in this crazy stunt to put on this event in support of Cancer Research UK. We also plan to donate any proceeds we make from contributions towards tickets to friends and family, raffles etc. We will video the event and upload to the website following the festival. We will also update progress on this site.
