We provide emergency support to seafarers to give help and hope for crews worldwide

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. What started as a break from the office and a bit of cycling has now turned into a fundraiser for the Mission to Seafarers.

My father and grandfather both lost their lives at sea. The Mission to Seafarers have been a great help to me and my family.

The Mission is on call for seafarers in over 200 ports worldwide. Seafarers seek their assistance in crisis situations because all too often they have nowhere else to turn. It is one of the most dangerous occupations. The rate of suicide is triple of shoreworkers and seafarers are 26 times more likely to be killed at work, often due to incidents of piracy. In 2017 there were 2611 casualties. Where do these people and their families go for help and support....?

I will be cycling 140 miles (excluding any wrong turns!) over 2 days' on 7th and 8th June. Please try to give generously, but if you cant, please give what you can. Thank you.

Whether victims of piracy or those shipwrecked or stranded, we’re there for the globe’s merchant seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs.
