Aimee's first ever marathon challenge!

Eden Project marathon · 16 October 2016
Hello and thank you so much for getting this far! If you're interested, here's my story and why I'm raising money for OCD-UK:
About 2 1/2 years ago I became very poorly with a mental health condition. Nobody knew what was wrong with me but they knew something terrible was happening in my mind. Eventually with the fantastic support from my family and friends, talking therapy and medication I was well on the way to recovery. However I still didn't really know what was wrong with me. With the help from my community nurse all the signs pointed to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). At first I denied it as I didn't wash my hands a lot, or worry about contamination, but I did worry a lot about things out of my control. So after a while I accepted that diagnosis and sought support, help and guidance from the Internet. I found the OCD-UK website and they really have been very very helpful to me, with forums, information, my 'just a thought' wrist bands and some extremely grounding advice. I'd like to make sure that everyone who needs help with the often crippling disorder that is OCD gets it and if just a bit of fundraising from me does that, then I'll happily put myself, for the first time, through 26.2 miles of a rather hilly marathon.
