It’s that time again! On Saturday 10th August 2019, from 09:00am to 09:00 Sunday 11th August, I will be dedicating 24 hours of my life to playing video games — consistently, (that means no sleep haha) whilst streaming the event online so you can check I’m still awake and still gaming!
This year, I’ve chosen to support Wearside Women in Need (WWiN) as they provide vital services to women & children suffering domestic violence.
WWiN provide refuge, advice and support to women and children and have done for over 35 years.
In January 2017, WWiN was almost forced to close its doors for good due to local government cuts so it is vital they are advocated for and supported.
As well as providing refuge for women & children, WWiN also provide outreach & advocacy services, as well as a 24 hour domestic violence helpline.
Did you know, Northumbria Police record approximately 30,910 cases of domestic violence every year — that averages at 2,576 incidents every single month.
Simply put — describing the service WWiN provides as “necessary” does not do the charity or the staff justice. It is vital, it is life saving and it needs your help.
