9 years old, Creates Charity Book For Save the Children Charity
Aimee Phillips, 9 years old, lives in Saltford has created, photographed and Illustrated a Book to raise money for Save the Children.
It started on February 2022, when at the age of 8, Aimee Phillips began to write and Illustrate, a book called “The Secret Garden ”, in aid of Save the Children with the goal of raising £100, by her 9th birthday. Aimee will digitally publish her book and donate all proceeds to the charity; Save the Children.
Aimee loves taking photographs and illustrates and writes notes from her outdoor countryside nature walks with her family, relatives, friends and decided to create the book to make as much money as possible for Save the Children Charity.
Aimee told us that she likes to give herself challenges and Sir David Attenborough’s “The Green Planet” and Her Majesty The Queen’s Green Canopy inspired the creation.
She said:
"I loved planting trees with my family, for Her Majesty The Queen’s Green Canopy, a national initiative to ‘plant a tree for the jubilee’ creating a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation. In 2022 Her Majesty the Queen will break all the records by being on the throne for 70 years, which is a remarkable moment in her service to our country. Also I loved watching with my family; The Green Planet Breathing life into our world. Dive into a world where a single life can last a thousand years, with Sir David Attenborough. See things no eye has ever seen, and discover the dramatic, beautiful plant life of Earth. The landmark Natural History series, presented by Sir David Attenborough. An immersive portrayal of an unseen, inter-connected world, full of remarkable new behaviour, emotional stories and surprising heroes in the plant world. Started, January 9th 2022, on BBC One, so I thought why not write and illustrate a Book that people could read to show their love and appreciation for our hardworking Charities key worker Heroes all whilst raising money for the important Save the Children. It will also act as a little keepsake and a reminder of the tough times we've had and that it won't be forever."
The Book is Ebook, and Aimee will donate all proceeds to Save the Children Charity.

What is the moral of The Secret Garden?
So here's the moral of the story. Change is inevitable in life. In fact, it's the only constant in this world. So it's HOW WE ADAPT TO CHANGE which sets each of us apart and defines who we are and how we live our lives.

The book features also a Bee Larva who eats her way through a variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a Beautiful Honey Bee.
The Secret Garden, simple text with educational themes - counting, the days of week, colours, foods, alphabet and a Honey Bee's life stages. It teaches children how to count and to make one-to-one correspondences between numbers and the flowers, plants growing in the garden. The Bee larva's diet is fictional rather than scientifically accurate, but the book introduces concepts of Lepidoptera life stages where transformations take place including the ultimate metamorphosis from "hungry Bee larva" to " Beautiful Honey Bee", and it teaches children How Bees make Honey. Bees are not only extremely important for humans, but also for the entire ecosystems to function. As we know, bees and wildlife allow plants to reproduce through Pollination. These plants contribute to the food system by feeding animals - aside from humans - such as birds and insects.
Story
Aimee’s 9th Birthday. A few (very kind) people have asked what I would like for a birthday present. The honest answer is that I am unbelievably spoilt already and don’t need any presents. However, this has been a terrible year for children all over the world - not just because of COVID but, also, the situations in Ukraine, Afghanistan and Ethiopia are properly appalling.
