We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be taking part in the Wimbledon Village Stables sponsored ride on Sunday 22nd October. This is the 42nd year Wimbledon Village Stables have organised this charity ride and I am delighted to be participating for the first time. Those who know our family well will know that the Aitkens love a fancy dress; this time I will be wearing something suitably embarrassing together with our horse, Hudson Bay.

The Stables have raised in excess of £550,000 for various local and national charities and once again we will be supporting the excellent work carried out by the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

The ride will take place over a 10 mile course across the beautiful scenery of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park. We will be parading through the village soon after 9am so come cheer us as we start and join the fun !

We have all been touched by family and friends affected by cancer and I am doing this ride in memory of my Canadian friend Genny Dalglish who passed away in April this year. She would have been 47 year on November 28th. Although Genny was treated in Canada, I am well aware of the incredible staff at the Royal Marsden where so many have received excellent care and benefited from their ground breaking work and extensive treatment programmesThe revolutionary way the Royal Marsden treats people in our hospitals has far-reaching impact, nationally and internationally.

Support The Royal Marsden and you’re investing in a future beyond cancer for you and for everyone you know.
