I am cycling 66 miles around the Solent in memory of my Dad, Tony, who died from a rare form of cancer 20 years ago. Many very special people I have known over the years have died from cancer and I also have some good friends who are now living with cancer so I am also cycling for all of them.
Being a 'desk sailor', a 66 mile bike ride is actually a pretty big challenge for me so I hope I make it. I have been 'training' with a great bunch of Lymington mates by cycling around the Lymington Sea Wall at 6am a couple of mornings a week since January - weather permitting. I have also been 'training' with fellow 'desk sailor' Giles Truscott who is also taking part in the Solent Coasts Cycling Challenge. Giles is a great mate and wind up merchant who I am sure will 'help' me get round the course.
