For those who don't know, FEAT is a charity set up by my good friend Craig Stobo in memory of his wife, Dr Fiona Agnew, and their daughter, Isla, who died from Sepsis in 2012. I remember the year well, especially that summer when on a weekend break Stobo and I drank beer in an outdoor hot-tub while our wives, both nearing their due dates, swapped parenting and pregancy stories. A few short weeks later, tragedy had struck; Sepsis had claimed two victims and would likely have taken Craig, too, but for Fiona.

As might be imagined, it's a charity very close to my heart and one where I have a very real personal interest.
So that's the 'why'. What's the 'what'?
Having previously completed the Great Scottish Run for FEAT (and huge thanks to all who supported me for that one) I'm stepping up to the full marathon. For some reason, when I tell people I'm running the Dublin Marathon, the first reaction of many is "Wow! A double marathon?". Just to be clear, Dublin is the Capital of Ireland and the only double marathon I could manage is a couple of Snickers bars.
My training so far is up to 19 miles and, to be honest, once I get to 16 miles I feel like I could: demolish a Wendy House; crush a grape; and arm wrestle an action man. Regrettably, by 16.5 miles I seem to hit a wall and every step jars my legs - think Tom from Tom and Jerry when he's been battered by cymbals...
I remain ever the optimist that I'll finish but I'm not expecting it to be pretty. Don't let my suffering go in vain. Please make a donation to FEAT.
Thanks!
