We care for seriously ill children to help them 'Make every day count'

Story

Our wonderful Husband, Dad and Grandad was diagnosed with bone cancer on the 11th June and sadly taken from us on the 1st July 2015.

One of the hardest things we did as a family was watch our 69 year old love one fight this awful disease and while taking breaks from our Husband's/Father's care we were reminded how lucky we were to have this beautiful man in our lives for the years we did, as we watch young mother's and father's carry their terminally ill children to see  various doctor's.

One such child close to our Mum and Dad's heart is Katie Hart-Greenfield who was 13 years old when she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was referred to Little Havens Children's Hospices for respite care on a number of occasions. On 21st February 2008, Katie was admitted as an emergency and hours later she passed away, aged just 15, at the hospice with her family by her side.

The hospice relies heavily on donations and it will cost them £2. 4m to continue their care over the next year. Katie's family campaign relentlessly to raise funds for the Children's hospices and one such event our family loved attending was Katie's annual cricket match. Mum and Dad's favourite sports was cricket and they were thrilled to be part of this event.

Any family dealing with terminal illness of a loved one, what ever their age, knows that Hospices bring life to days not days to life.

The Ryder family are forever greatful to the care given to our Husband/Dad by the Farleigh Hospice at home team, but Dad would take huge pride in any donation in honour of him going to Little Haven.

Please note the Ryder family throughout 2015/16 will be taking part in various events to support farleigh's hospice, your continued support to continue our
wonderful Husband, Dad and Grandad legercy will be much apprrciated.
