Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am Alan Walton and I met Nigel Walker when we both got jobs in the Maths Department at St Bede's, Lanchester in 1992. We enjoyed a mutual love of Maths, puzzles, card games, quizzes, cricket and generally winding up people [Roy McGregor]. Nigel was one of my very best friends.

I met John Alder in the early 70s when I started going to most of Newcastle's away games. We shared many an overnight coach or train journey to London, Ipswich, Bristol, Swansea, etc, etc. I last spoke to him at Norwich in January, and it's hard to imagine walking into an away ground and not seeing him.

I will be walking from Whickham to Willington on Wednesday 20th August 2014, roughly the same distance as a marathon, arriving in time for the Willington v Whickham Northern League Division 2 match. It kicks off at 7.30pm.
