We support people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’, and we fund cutting-edge equipment and research. Every penny makes an impact as our operating costs are covered by Balmoral Group.

My Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

Some of you may know I am taking part in a Sky Dive on the 30th of June in St Andrews for a very good cause close to my heart. I want to raise as much money as possible for the Friends of Anchor Unit in Aberdeen.

Mark and I have been together since January 2004,we met when we were just at school now we are engaged and live together.

On August 2011Mark was sadly dignosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia ALL. ALL is most common in childern aged 1-4 years old and Mark was 23 so it was a huge shock and the biggest challenge we had came across in our 9 year relationship.

There are no words to describe the feeling when the person you love has been told they have cancer. I still remember that day like it was yesterday, it was so sureal that this could happen to the person most close to me.

Leukemia is a cancer of the blood cells which are produced in the bone marrow . Acute leukemia means the condition progresses rapidly and aggressively and requires immediate treatment. Days after Mark was in the hospital having his treatment which included chemotherapy. They wanted to start ASAP with the type of leukemia he had. 10 months later he has fought the cancer and is now on a maintance program which icludes daily tablets, weekly visits for blood tests, monthly Chemotherapy, lumbarpunctures, and bone marrow tests.Mark will be on this maintance for 2 and a half years.

I can't express how proud i am of Mark and the way he has coped with this evil disease. Throughout the treatment he always remained positive, he did have off days but always thought of others before himself. Thats the kind of person he is and always has been. Mark is an outstanding role model to us all.

By challenging myself to take part in the Sky Dive I hope to raise money and awareness for this charity. Friends of Anchor.

Please give what you can and hopefully together we can beat this.
