Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm really lucky to have been chosen in the random ballot to run this years Virgin London Marathon and after having little or no experience in running in the past have found myself just 3 and half weeks before my date with blister destiny. So over the last few months I've been getting my mind and body finely tuned to transform my running style from a flailing saunter into that of a cheetah blazing towards the horizon.
I must admit training started really well if a little later than some and has tailed off a tad of late, but I've heard the amazing atmosphere and support along the way get people through the fabled "wall". I can't remember the last time I cried but I'm hoping that the only tears running down my face will be presenting themselves at the finish line and not before.
Anyway the serious part, I have nominated to run for Medecins Sans Frontiers which is a non-governmental organsation best known for its projects in war-torn regions and developing countries facing endemic disease. They are often the first in - last out which will hopefully be the direct inverse of my time running the marathon course.
So please give generously and wish me and all the other Virgin Marathon virgins luck and a strong following wind on the day.
Thank you very much and check back here for the result
Yours appreciatively
Alastair
