Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Following 5 years of IVF treatment I conceived my son on our 6th attempt. My pregnancy was not plain sailing, I was diagnosed with grade 4 placenta praevia following a bleed at 16 weeks. At 30 weeks of pregnancy I was admitted to hospital (PRUH) following further blood loss, where I was monitored very closely

On the 14th May 2014 I suffered huge blood loss and my son was delivered via emergency C section on the 15th May at 35 weeks.

When my son was born he was unable to maintain his oxygen levels or body temperature, and so was admitted to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH).

He stayed on SCBU for 10 days where he received amazing care from the nursing staff.

My family will forever be grateful for the care my son received whilst in SCBU and now that he is about to start school I feel it is time to give something back, and help other poorly babies and families at what can be a very anxious time.

SCBU rely on donations and charity funds for their specialist equipment they use, for example they recently received funding for their BRAINZ machine which allows staff to scan a babies brain to check for damage caused following a traumatic birth. Having this equipment on site means they no longer need to transfer poorly babies to another unit for checks. Immediate treatment in these instances is so important and has a huge impact.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
