Story

What we are doing

Vikas Dagar and Bhavit Shah are walking from Canary Wharf to Harrow - (approx 18 miles) on 13th June come rain or shine.

Why are we doing it

Our aim is to raise awareness about Albinism and help Albinism Fellowship charity (registered) in raising donations for fantastic work done by its volunteers.

What is Albinism? - www.albinism.org.uk

People with Albinism are born with little or no pigment in
their eyes, skin and hair, although in some cases the reduced pigmentation only affects the eyes.  Albinism occurs because people have inherited genes that do not produce the usual amounts of a pigment called Melanin.

In the United Kingdom, one in 17 000 people are born with some type of Albinism.  Albinism occurs in all races and most children with albinism are born to parents who have the hair and eye colour that would be for their ethnic background.

People with Albinism may suffer from poor vision, skin issues and in some countries this condition also has significant social impact.
