Ahoy! Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraiser.
Jing and myself, Alec, are two students who want to raise money for research into saving women and children. Our mission: the Saucony Cambridge half marathon on
Jing, the mastermind behind this operation, came to me with the plan: we should run for Wellbeing of Women. It's a unique charity which funds peer-reviewed research into reproductive and gynaecological health. Half of all women in the UK will suffer in one of these areas, potentially leading to miscarriages or undiagnosed cancer. But they don't need to: many of these issues could be prevented with better checks and more research.
I was instantly convinced. The enthusiasm Jing brought (of course, being a seasoned runner) rubbed off - this is an amazing charity, with impressively rigorous standards about selecting papers and the potential to help thousands of women and children if a breakthrough is made.
I've been devilishly roped in to this scheme, wholly voluntarily to be fair, but I fear for the integrity of my hamstrings. It would mean a lot to us, those who suffer from reproductive health problems, and my calves, if you could send some love.
