Groovy Granddaughters Ran Race for Life 2013 at Kempton Park Racecourse on 19th October in the dark!

Alessia and Emily chose to raise money for Cancer Research to help find a cure. Both have lost a Grandparent whom they love and miss immensely !! Chaperoning them were Debbie, Tina, Naomi & Cathy.

They both put in a huge amount of effort and really took the challenge seriously.  They took time out to train with the chaperones and when the adults were training after bed time, they arranged their own training after school. Juggling, homework, swimming, brownies and socialising!  They coped with running in the rain, stitches and a few ankle injuries along the way.

And if that wasn't enough.........

Then they planned a Cake Sale at their School.  They each wrote a letter to their Headmistress requesting permission (which was approved).  They thought about and created posters for advertising.  The day before they stood by the gate and handed reminder flyers to all the parents. Both helped cook, make and decorate muffins, biscuits and cakes! Emily looked after to float whilst Alessia busily served the hungry crowd.  They were sooooo busy that a teacher stepped in to help! 'Thank you Mr Lovejoy' Not one crumb was left..............
