We release children from poverty to fulfil their God given potential.

Story

On Saturday 30th October we were privileged to visit (virtually) 11 year old twins Ronald & Nakato (Josephine) at their home in Ntinda just outside Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. We met with them and some of the 13 members of their household live via Zoom. It was truly amazing to see the wonderful difference that sponsorship through Compassion is making to the lives of the twins and their family.

We also met their father Ronald Sr. Amongst the joy, smiles and singing of the children, he sat quietly in the background. as we got to know the family's story, we found out that he used to be a Boda Boda (motorbike) taxi driver until he was assaulted by thieves and had his bike stolen. since then he has been unemployed.

Aside from the obvious material impact of a loss of income, it was clear to us that Ronald Sr. had lost far more than his livelihood through this crime. as a result of the assault, his mental wellbeing has suffered greatly. He battled with alcoholism and his wife (the twins mother) has moved away and not seen the family since. Despite the great joy of meeting the twins and witnessing the incredible work of Compassion, we could not help but be saddened and moved by Ronald Sr's situation. As we left the family, we asked them how we could pray for them. Ronald's prayer was quite simple - for God to provide the means for him to be able to work again.

We enquired about the cost of a motorbike in Uganda and found out that for around 5 Million Ugandan Shillings (approximately £1000), a good quality used motorbike can be purchased. for the 40 or so of us in the UK, this would equate to raising a mere £25 each. So we have committed to allowing God to use us as an answer to his prayer.

Thank you for reading Ronald's story. We would love it if you would consider contributing a small amount towards our goal.

*Please note that if we exceed the fundraising target, we intend to gift the surplus to the project which the twins attend in order for the project to support Nakato & Ronald's peers.*
