Story
Those of you that know me well will know that I am not really the right build for riding a bike and I also haven't ridden one for about 25 years! However I have decided to undertake this challenge, for my good friend Craig. Just another mad idea that he has got me into which has included, walking the Calderdale way in a weekend (50 miles), getting petrified on Crib Goch (Snowdonia) and much more recently and enjoyably raising money for various charities,by joining 'The beer walk' which basically involves dressing up (see photo) and walking around the moors around Oldham and Delph, collecting money. This year for the Bobby Moore cancer fund (hence the football strip)
Just over a year ago Craig was diagnosed with Cancer of the tonsils, a fairly rare form of Cancer. Craig is a pretty fit guy in the prime of his life with a great family. This was pretty devasting news. Craig was supported through this tough period by the Christie Foundation.
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year. They are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 26% of patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
To the releif of everyone who knows Craig he has this year been given the all clear. It is to show my thanks and support for The Christie that I, am undertaking this challenge. I look forward to Craig involving me in many more madcap events
