Folkestone half marathon · 24 September 2017

1:6000 children are born with microtia. Microtia results in underdeveloped ear(s) and impacts hearing. It can impact the heart, kidneys, different parts of the face and spine. There is an ongoing question whether microtia is environmental or genetic or a combination.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My amazing friend is running a half marathon to raise awareness for Microtia. Our son was born with right sided Microtia and has permanent conductive hearing loss. We were in complete shock when he was born as we had never heard of this condition and for quite some time I blamed myself. It cannot be picked up on pregnancy scans and how this condition develops is unknown, it affects 1 in 12,000 babies and happens in the early stages of pregnancy.

Microtia is a condition in which a child is born with an ear or ears deformed or absent and is usually paired with other conditions.

Our beautiful strong little man is doing so well and now has a BAHA that he wears on a soft band which improves the way he hears this world.

Please donate to this great charity who helped us so much with information and meeting other people with this condition, they need your help to research and continue to help little miracles like our munchkin.
