Story

Thanks to all those who have sponsored me so far I am so very grateful for your support

Let me just explain what I am up to...

Cycling 100 miles!! I can do that I thought! After a couple of training runs I am having a few doubts but hell in for a penny!! On June 6 I shall be enjoying the sights of Norfolk whilst raising some money for a student of mine who is doing something really positive by volunteering on a community project in Borneo.

As many of you who know me know, volunteering in the 'developing world' when I spent time in Tanzania in the mid 90's, was such a valuable experience that I am so keen to see others do the same thing. It was something that I learnt so much from - a truly great opportunity for anyone.

Here are a few words from the student herself..

"My name is Floss Severs. I am an 'A' Level student at the City of
Norwich School currently in the first year of sixth form. I have the
fantastic opportunity to travel to Sabah in Borneo, and participate in
an international volunteer project from July to September 2010 with the
organisation Raleigh International.

As a volunteer in Borneo I could be living and working among communities
to improve health and educational services, living in an unexplored
jungle whilst building a hanging suspension bridge and trekking across
some of Sabah's most rugged terrain.

Borneo projects are based in some of the remotest and poorest parts of
Sabah. As a volunteer I could be working alongside the local community
building a much needed kindergarten or maybe a gravity water feed system
that will supply a community with a reliable source of fresh and clean
water for the first time.

However to achieve such amazing things I need your help. To raise money
for the volunteer project, I am participating in several fund raising
activities including 'The Norwich 50', an annual 50 mile cycle ride
which takes place on the 6th of June. Any sponsors would be extremely
welcomed and would greatly contribute to the projects hosted by Raleigh.
This experience will be life changing and I hope with your help that I
can make a real difference.

Thanks a lot for reading,

Floss

Money raised will support Floss through her project and also support other vital community projects that Raleigh do throughout the world.

Not only that you can enjoy the thought that I will be in agony by the end of it - that fact alone has to be worth a penny or two!!
