Every 4 years my employer, Deloitte, launches a series of epic challenges to raise money for some fantastic charities.

This September, over 200 employees are embarking on various different adventures. After doing the Ride Across Britain last year, I've been lucky enough to have been selected for Deloitte's most extreme challenge this year: climbing Stok Kangri.

Stok Kangri is a mountain, situated in Jammu and Kashmir (India) Himalayas, which stands at 6,153m high. If all goes well, and there's plenty of risk that it won't, then I should be able to climb as high as 6,120m.

Those that know me well will know that I love adventure and travel, but I have never attempted anything like this before! The oxygen levels near the summit are so thin that walking at a fast speed will be an impossibility. At the same time, I'll be fighting some extreme cold! 

I am climbing to raise money for Mind Guernsey once again, a fantastic charity working to improve mental health in Guernsey, which is Deloitte Guernsey’s chosen charity partner. Having done the Ride Across Britain last year, I was fortunate enough to hear so many stories of how Mind Guernsey had helped my friends and wider society in Guernsey. Mind Guernsey does a fantastic job on our island which, as has always been to my surprise, has a higher rate of depression than most parts of the UK.

I hope to do a mini-blog of some description, as I did for the Ride Across Britain last year. Although I am going to be lacking in electricity and phone signal (amongst other basics, like a shower!!) in the Himalayas, so posts may be sporadic and few and far between.
