Highland Cross · 22 June 2019 ·

Highland Cross is a 50 mile duathlon (walking or running 20 miles and cycling 30 miles) across Scotland from Kintail to Beauly. The event is organised by volunteers to raise funds for charities across the Highlands. Since 1983, over £6.3m has been raised and distributed in full to deserving causes.

Story

I have been invited into a team which consisted of my late fathers old friends that all participated together for the first time back in 1989 and two of which continue to do so today. Back then they called themselves the Affric Rats!  My father competed competitively for two years in a row with his team mates raising over £20,000 one year in an effort to help local charities.

I felt honoured to have been invited this year into this tight knit team and to help participate in what's a great cause for the highlands.

This year we are raising money for Birchwood Highland, Cantraybridge College, New Start Highland, Puffin Hydro Pool and SNAP (Special Needs Action Plan).

Having fractured my ankle last year I think this will be a suitable challenge and target.

This years event will take place on 22nd June 2019.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!
