This September I will run Bristol Half Marathon to raise money to support the charity I volunteer for, Bristol Crisis Service for Women. 

Bristol Crisis Service for Women is a national charity which began its work in 1986, since then the creation of their Text and Email Support Service (TESS), has seen the charity able to emotional support to girls and young women, who have been affected by self-injury. The TESS service opens Monday-Friday 19:00-21:00. In this time, women up to 25 are able to text or email in, and receive live support from a team of volunteers. 

In addition to management of the TESS service, Bristol Crisis Service for Women provides helpful resources to young people who self-injure, as well as facilitating training for professionals working with those who self-injure.

The work of the staff and volunteers at Bristol Crisis Service for Women is truly unique, and the extensive research that they have carried out makes the TESS service an organic process, responding to the needs of those accessing the service.

Two years ago I trained to become a Text and Email Volunteer, and it is one of the best things I have ever done. The experience of working for this charity, and with all of the lovely women who are involved, has totally changed my life. So I’m running Bristol Half this September to raise money for Bristol Crisis Service for Women, and we would really appreciate any donation to help to sustain the incredible work.
