Story

Sadly on the 29th December my Dad, Ernie Enstone lost his battle with cancer. His one remaining wish, as he approached the latter stages of his life was to die at home. A request that was only made possible by the tremendous support provided to us by The Shakespeare Hospice.

Cancer is a cruel and unrelenting disease that hopefully, in time, will be consigned to the medical history pages. Until that day arrives, many others like my dad will need the support of organisations like The Shakespeare Hospice. Therefore it is, in my opinion, scandalous to realise that they only receive 11% of their funding from central government. It is my aim to address this, with your support, in a very small way!

During his life my dad had one big passion....playing golf! I was often criticised by him for not playing enough, so on the 21st June I plan to put that right! With the generous support of Henley-in-Arden Golf Club I shall be attempting to complete 100 holes of golf in a single day!

I won’t be using a buggy and will walk every hole, starting at 4.30am and finishing....well whenever I finally sink the putt on the 100th hole. If it doesn’t sound like much of a challenge then let it be noted that the distance walked won’t be far off that of the London Marathon....and that’s if I can keep some of my shots straight!

It’s safe to say that this will be an almighty physical challenge for me as I haven’t exactly kept my fingers out of the biscuit tin during my life. But the challenge is nothing in comparison to that which my dad and thousands of others face in their battles with Cancer.

The incredible home support my dad received for the last week of his life cost the Shakespeare Hospice over £2,000 and therefore I hope to raise this for them so that they may continue their good works for other patients and their families.....if you can support me in this goal I would be most grateful.

Thank you
