Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

Hello!

As you may have already heard, I am running the London Marathon in April 2012. This will be my first marathon and I am excited (albeit a little bit scared) of how tough the training regime will be! I have decided to raise money for Help the Hospices UK, the leading charity that supports hospice care throughout the UK.

The vast majority of those cared for by hospices have cancer and my Dad spent his final month during August 2006 in Roxburghe House, Aberdeen. It really didn't feel like a place where people were spending their final days. My Dad had his own room and was comfortable throughout his stay. He particularly enjoyed having the freedom to spend time in the gardens and coffee area so we didn't always have to sit by his bedside.

I know this is a charity that not many of you will be familiar with but Hospice care can change lives for individuals (both young and old) that are nearing the end of their lives.

Any donation that you make is much appreciated - I will train very hard to make sure I complete the Marathon and will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for taking time to read my page

Alexis
