My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer over four years ago at the age of 36, our son was only two. For six months she had a pretty hard chemotherapy treatment. After that she had two surgeries to get rid of all the cancer cells left, and finally more that 20 sessions of radiotherapy. For three years she had regular checks that shown everything was fine, no sign of cancer. Unfortunately in 2015 at summertime during our usual holiday in Spain with the family, we realised that something was in her left breast, a small lump. We decided to wait until we got back to UK to have it check out. After some tests the bad news was delivered to us, cancer was back and it had spread to her liver, lungs and peritonea. After this devastating news I decide I have to do something to help others that are or may be in our situation in the future. An advertisement on Facebook makes the click in my head, Brighton Marathon 2016. I've always loved sport and challenges. I always wanted to run a marathon, so I thought this is what I'm going to do.

Two days after running Brighton Marathon 2016 I decided to run it again in 2017. Unfortunately in 2017 I had to run it in her memory as she lost he battle to cancer in 31st of October 2016, but I'm sure she will support me on the day from wherever she is now. My son Rodrigo joint the cause last year running the Cancer Research Mini Miles race. We will do it again in 2019 what will be my 4th Brighton Marathon in consecutive years and Rodrigo will also run again the Mini Mile. We are going to do it again with Cancer Research UK because it is charity that give us the motivation to do it. I think  fits perfectly for purpose.I have been lucky enough to visited their facilities at Cambridge University for work reasons. The labs that they have in there are amazing. I have seen first hand how hard they work to get the job done.I would like to thank you in advance for supporting me and Cancer Research UK. We all together can beat cancer sooner.
