Alan absolutely loved being a primary school teacher at Sir William Borough in Tower Hamlets, both because of the school ethos and because of the wonderful people he worked with. 

Doorstep library does a bit of what I think Al brought to the kids he taught. Making learning fun and growing self confidence.
