Story
Earlier this year we lost dad to cancer. He fought long and hard... and in his corner, in our corner, was St Peter's Hospice (particularly Dad's nurse Abbi Roper).
Abbi was there with us throughout the hardest of times. Over the course of a year she, and St Peter's, provided much needed support and advice. Abbi provided friendship (especially to dad) and she worked really hard to make sure we all understood what was happening and to ensure that Dad was as comfortable as possible - liaising with his doctors, nurses and the care home....not an easy job and totally invaluable.
SO - this year, I've stepped up the miles (along with Tom, Lou and Leah) and we are running the Bournemouth Marathon in aid of St Peter's and in memory of Dad.
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Their commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of the care is provided free of charge, but it costs around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops.
