My Triathlon Journey
When I first signed up for a spring distance triathlon in August 2016, I read a book by Chrissie Wellington about her experience as a 4 time Ironman World Champion. It inspired me to dream about one day completing this gruelling distance myself.
A month later I completed the 800m Swim, 10k cycle and 5k run, but I had to stop a few times on the run due to cramp and the dream of completing the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle, 26.2 mile run to finish an Ironman seemed almost impossible.
For two years, the idea stuck at the back of my mind and in October 2018, the week before starting working at McDonald's, I finally took the plunge and signed up for Ironman Copenhagen.
Since January, I have been training hard. My Strava stats tell me I have run almost 500km, cycled nearly 1,400km and swam over 70km (as of 4th June) over the last 5 months.
On 2nd June I completed a half Ironman in Chester, finally giving me the confidence to start raising money for this fantastic project.
