Sightsavers' vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes and where visually impaired people participate equally in society.

Story

I chose to do this as a challenge to myself. The upsides in terms of physical fitness and mental stamina are obvious, though so far have yet to be achieved in training. I WILL make it though! If there can be upsides for Sightsavers too, well that would make it doubly special.

I was shocked to find out that there are 39 million blind people in the world, and that 80% of blindness could be prevented or cured. Any donations I raise will go towards easing the painof eye diseases like trachoma or river blindness, especially for people who are already living in the pain of extreme poverty.

Thanks so much and wish me luck!
