Story
Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, I absolutely adore animals and am painfully aware of the suffering that millions of animals endure every day at the hands of people and as a result of illness, injury and natural disasters. No animal deserves a single moment of pain and it is simply heartbreaking to realise the extent of the distress and agony experienced by animals across the globe, whether as a result of cruel sports; trade and exploitation of wildlife; tourist entertainment; poor standards in the rearing, transportation and slaughter of animals in the farming industry; brutal human cruelty; inadequacies of stray dog management programmes; poor care of working animals...the list goes on and on.
But while it is overwhelming, the situation is not hopeless and that is because of organisations such as World Animal Protection which are doing everything they can to help and protect animals around the world. The campaigns that WAP is running at the moment tackle issues such as bear bile farming, elephant exploitation, bullfighting, ghost fishing gear, wildlife crime, bear baiting, sea turtle farming, civet coffee and national and global farming standards, to name but a few. WAP supports dog population management programmes in multiple countries and helps provide rescue teams in the wake of natural disasters wherever they might occur. Its work is truly invaluable.
I will be running (like a baby giraffe, or so I am told!) a half marathon in London on 9 October 2016 and I would be so incredibly grateful if you would help me to support WAP in its wonderful efforts to make the lives of animals around the world happier.
