We work with food suppliers and charities to fight food waste and hunger in London

Story

The Felix Project was founded by my brother-in-law, Justin Byam Shaw, in memory of my nephew, Felix, who died suddenly from meningitis in 2014. Felix was full of compassion for those who didn't have the same advantages as him. Justin clearly remembers an incident at a boys' football tournament, when Felix had been upset to discover that almost none of the opposing team of 10-year-old boys from South London had had anything to eat that day.

With their network of amazing volunteers, the Felix Project collects food from supermarkets, wholesalers and other food suppliers - food that is fresh and nutritious but cannot be sold for various reasons. They deliver this food free of charge to charities who then provide meals and food parcels for their communities, including the elderly, the homeless, people with mental health issues, refugees and asylum seekers, as well as vulnerable families and children. They are currently the only food rescue service tackling the food waste generated in central London.

The mission of the Felix Project is simple - to take surplus food from their suppliers and deliver it to any charity that helps feed people. It's all nutritious and would otherwise go to waste. Not only that, but it helps fight food poverty and reduces costs for all sorts of hardworking charities.
