Meadows Marathon, Edinburgh · 7 March 2010

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

The Alzheimer's Society is a charity, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in the UK.

I have decided to run the Edinburgh half Marathon on 7th March 2010 to raise money for The Alzheimer's Society, as I feel passionately that Alzheimer's disease is a major problem worldwide - affecting 35 million people and their families. Approximately 820,000 people in the UK have dementia.

Alzheimer's Society is the only organisation to work with leading scientists and people affected by dementia to ensure it's research influences practice and transforms lives. I really want to help spread more awareness of the disease.

Thank you very very much for any donations - it really does mean a lot.

Alice

P.S. Training is going well - did 8 miles round all of Durham yesterday (04/02/10)!
